In August of 1967 the Tatman Foundation was formed under the "General Not-for-Profit Corporation Law" of Missouri to operate exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.  The Foundation was formed by Harriet Tatman in honor of her father, Bernal L. Tatman.
